Senior political advisors have showed their full support for the newly-elected leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee at the recent 18th CPC National Congress and the first plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee.

They also voiced support for the report delivered by Hu Jintao and all resolutions adopted at the CPC Congress, according to a resolution adopted by participants at the 19th session of the 11th Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, China's top political advisory body.

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the four-day session, which ended in Beijing on Thursday.

Jia called on political advisors to give full play to their roles and put forward proposals that reflect the appeals and aspirations of people from across the social spectrum.

He stressed it is important to have political consultations prior to and during the decision-making process. Political consultations should be centered on major issues concerning economic and social development as well as issues regarding the immediate interests of the public, Jia said.

To build China into a well-off society, participants at the session agreed that it was important to deepen reforms on important sectors and get rid of perceptions and institutional obstacles that hamper scientific development.

China's socialist democracy will demonstrate greater vitality as long as the country unswervingly moves forward along its path of political development with Chinese characteristics, participants at the meeting said.

Senior CPPCC members said the 18th CPC National Congress was one of great importance, held as China has entered the decisive stage of completing the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects.

The CPPCC serves as a key mechanism for multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the CPC. Members of the CPPCC are representatives of the CPC and non-Communist parties, people without party affiliations and representatives of people's organizations and ethnic minorities.
