Airport thief on trial

A baggage employee at Beijing Capital International Airport stood trial Wednesday under the charge of theft of electronics from passengers' luggage at Chaoyang court, reported the Beijing Evening News Wednesday.

Liu Guobin, 55, from Hebei Province, stole iPads and cameras from baggage at the luggage claim counter four times during a two-week theft spree. The items were worth about 8,800 yuan ($1,406).

Liu said he saw some property in bags whose zipper was partly opened. He would grab the items and hide them under his arms as he passed the security check, but was never discovered or questioned by any staff at the airport.
