In southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, participants will compete for the individual award of the Third World Mahjong Championship. This year's three-day tournament has attracted nearly 200 participants from 13 countries and regions.

Participants must compete in individual and team events, implementing international mahjong competition rules. Teams competed earlier, with graduates from universities in Beijing and Tianjin taking home first prize.

Second place went to a foreign team named Dutch Flower. The first Mahjong championship was held in 2007 as the sport is gaining popularity both at home and abroad, keeping international interest on the centuries-old Chinese game.
