Chinese police to be more transparent

2012-10-31 08:57 Xinhua     Web Editor: Liu Xian comment

China's Ministry of Public Security has issued a new decree that will go into effect on Jan. 1, 2013 in an effort to increase the public's awareness about the job responsibilities of police officers.

The move is meant to ensure the rights of acknowledgement, participation and supervision over the behavior of the country's police force, Xinhua learned from the ministry Tuesday.

The ministry has issued the new rules based on experiences obtained in recent years by local police departments in some localities. These departments have tried some new methods of law enforcement, such as internet-based information services and case-handling activities.

The new regulations have six chapters and 36 clauses.
