China Zhongshan (Sun Yat-sen) Park Association said that its plan for joint application for World Cultural Heritage status had been canceled, cnr.cn reported on Thursday.

Wei Zhengnan, president of the association, which was established in 2003, said the plan was canceled because the historical background and development situation were different among the parks.

There are 75 Zhongshan parks in China, the United States, Canada and Japan. They were established to commemorate Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925), the forerunner of China's revolution.
