The sudden arrival of a serpentine flood across a road in Jilin Province trigged suspicion and panic among locals, according to chinanews.com.

Hundreds of snakes crossed the road of a mountain ridge at the junction of the Jiutai city and Yongji county, the report said. A villager surnamed Zhang said that the snakes appeared several days ago.

Locals were freaked by this strange scene, but Tang Jingwen, an expert from the Jilin Wildlife Conservation Association, explained that these snakes were looking for wintering grounds, a common phenomenon. Tang added that the snakes are common local species and not poisonous.
