China has offered Burundi 1.3 million U.S. dollars worth of logistical materials to be used by the country's military, an official source has said.

The donation was comprised of 600 squad tents each with the capacity to hold 12 people, 600 platoon tents each for 36 people and 100 hospital tents.

A document to hand over the materials was signed on Wednesday in Bujumbura by the Chinese ambassador to Burundi Yu Xuzhong and Burundi's defense minister Pointien Gaciyubwenge.

The Chinese ambassador recalled this is the second donation by China to Burundi's defense ministry this year.

He said the first donation of 10,000 military uniforms worth 1. 7 million dollars was offered to Burundi during its 50th independence celebrations, after a visit by a Chinese military delegation which was led by brigadier Jia Xiaoning towards the end of 2010.
