Pudong creates center to aid entrepreneurs

The Pudong New Area government has launched a new comprehensive service center to help entrepreneurs find information about incentive programs and funding initiatives in an effort to attract more businesses to the district, officials said at a press conference Wednesday.

"Entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of the local economy. To further develop young entrepreneurship in the district, we have set up the center to offer them access to updated information about new policies and give them a platform to fulfill their potential as business leaders," Hu Peiyan, deputy Party secretary of Pudong New Area, said in a press release.

The center, called Pudong International Talent City, located in Zhangjiang High-Tech Park, is also cooperating with area banks to provide entrepreneurs with financing so they can turn their ideas into businesses, Hu said.

So far, there are 27 companies listed in Pudong International Talent City's business incubation program, which provides new businesses with local government connections to help them share contacts and find financing and talent.

"For those who want to start a business, information about local incentive programs and other available resources is crucial," said Xu Kun, a project manager from Accenture China, a consulting firm whose services include advising entrepreneurs and companies about starting new businesses in China.

Although different businesses have different requirements for where they want to set up, most will consider factors such as incentive policies, potential clients and available talent, Xu said.

"It will certainly help new entrepreneurs save time and effort, as well as attract more business," Xu told the Global Times.
