Weibo Nation: New iPhone divides fans

2012-09-19 15:37 Global Times     Web Editor: Zang Kejia comment

Apple unveiled its highly anticipated iPhone 5 earlier this month, sending fans of the gadget wild in China. But not everyone has been swept up in iPhone infatuation, with some Web users criticizing its lack of innovation. The design of the new iPhone hasn't changed much from its predecessor the iPhone 4S, with the main difference being a bigger screen on the new model. Web users shared their thoughts on whether the new iPhone is worth rushing out to buy when it's likely to be released on the Chinese mainland next month.

@Qinglianqing: I'm really disappointed by this new iPhone after waiting for so long, maybe because of my high expectations. After all, it's just a cellphone.

@Little tomato evazhang: The Steve Jobs era has passed. We don't need to surrender our last resources for the iPhone 5, which offers little value for money.

@It was a bit cold last autumn: Let's embrace the joy of science and technology. After initially being a completely alien gadget, the iPhone has never let me down! That's why I'm here, supporting [Apple] as always!

@Yedaoqise: I don't see anything wrong with it, but maybe you'll be ashamed to look at the [iPhone 5's] paltry little screen after witnessing the giant screen of Samsung's smartphones. What's the point of buying an iPhone if Apple doesn't try to match its competitors?

@Youth needs no explanation: I choose to buy it immediately. Though lacking innovation, it is still the best cellphone in the world! Ever since the iPhone 3G was launched, I've had to buy every new iPhone.

@C Xiaodao horse: The iPhone 5 is bigger and slimmer and has upgraded hardware as well as performance capability. It's obvious that Apple is basking in its own glory after the latest incarnation of the iPhone. For our "made in China" smartphone makers, this is a chance to catch up with the world. Coolpad will soon release its new model GrandSights smartphone, which is even slimmer than the iPhone 5. This is a good start. I'm waiting for better products to hit the market.

@So Zuibusong: Why not buy one? My wife said we must buy one even if we only use it as a remote control. Even if they launched a 2-meter iPhone 20, we would still take it home. It could be used as a ruler to measure our baby's height!

@Babyface: There is always a bunch of people posting microblogs when a new model iPhone hits the market. Most of them claim such "junk" will be unwanted and Apple will go bankrupt soon. As it turns out, it is always in high demand from the masses regardless of its price. Therefore, even if those posting microblogs here have no intention of buying the new iPhone, the silent masses will queue up to buy them as is always proven. It is going to sell perfectly.
