Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with the prime ministers of Latvia, Denmark and Lithuania, respectively, on the sidelines of the Summer Davos Forum.

The forum, also known as the 6th Annual Meeting of the New Champions, will open in north China's Tianjin Municipality on Tuesday afternoon. Wen will address the opening ceremony.

While meeting with Prime Minister of Latvia Valdis Dombrovskis, Wen spoke highly of the support Latvia has given to relations between China and Central and Eastern European countries.

He said China and Latvia should grasp the opportunity to promote cooperation in areas such as agriculture, transportation, logistics, healthcare and education.

Dombrovskis said Latvia attaches great importance to relations with China and is ready to work with China to push forward friendly exchanges and cooperation in all areas.

While meeting with Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Wen said China is ready to enhance high-level communication with Denmark and promote the two countries' cooperation in such areas as trade, agriculture, environmental protection, tourism, maritime issues and culture.

Wen also welcomed Denmark to increase investment in China and invited the country to join in the development of western China.

Thorning-Schmidt said Denmark wants to make closer consultations and cooperation with China in all areas and will create better conditions for Chinese companies investing in Denmark.

While meeting with Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius, Wen said Lithuania is China's largest trade partner in the Baltic Sea region. The two countries, which have seen increasing friendly exchanges, face great potential for cooperation.

The Chinese government, companies, colleges and universities will strengthen exchanges with their Lithuanian counterparts so as to bring the China-EU relationship, as well as the relationship between China and Central and Eastern Europe, to new highs, said Premier Wen.

Kubilius said Lithuania stands ready to further enhance coordination and cooperation with China and to boost Lithuania-China relations and Europe-China relations.
