PM2.5 pollution warning

The concentration of PM2.5 in Beijing was twice the national standard Thursday but is expected to improve Saturday as temperatures cool.

Heavy fog shrouded Beijing Thursday morning. The detection station in Chegongzhuang, Haidian district, showed that the PM2.5 concentration at 9 am was 263 micrograms per cubic meter and in the previous 24 hours it was 147 micrograms per cubic meter, nearly twice the national standard, the Beijing Evening News reported.
