Starting from September 1, two leading Hong Kong airlines, Hong Kong Dragon Airlines Ltd and Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd, will raise the fuel surcharge on their flights between Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland from $28.1 to $31.2, according to a report on netease.com Thursday.

EL AL Ltd, an Israel-based airline, is also expected to increase its fuel surcharge from Saturday, with the surcharge for flights between Hong Kong and Israel rising from $125 to $137. However, the airline's fuel surcharges for flights between the Chinese mainland and Israel will remain unchanged.

Sichuan Airlines, an airline company in Southwest China's Sichuan Province, will also follow the trend, the report said, raising the fuel surcharge on flights to Hong Kong from HK$219 to HK$243.

According to netease.com, the fuel surcharges on all domestic flights that travel a distance of over 1,500 kilometers will rise by 30 yuan ($4.7) to 130 yuan in September, back to the same level as in June.
