Twenty-four mainland tourists who were injured Friday in a road accident in the Taiwanese city of Chiayi have received proper medical treatment at four local hospitals.

Tourists Huang Yufang and Lin Xueyou are currently in the intensive care unit of a local Christian hospital, while another four were sent to a separate hospital, including Yan Dafen, who is in critical condition after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage.

Other tourists with minor injuries are receiving medical care at another two hospitals in the city.

The accident occurred around 1 p.m. Friday, when a bus carrying the tourists and their guide hit the roof of a tunnel in downtown Chiayi. It is believed that the vehicle's driver failed to note the tunnel's height limit.
