CMA issued level Ⅱ emergency response to address Kai-tak

At 9:00 am of August 16, CMA promoted level Ⅲ emergency response for severe meteorological disaster (typhoon) to level Ⅱ. CMA urges all the internal bodies and institutions to enter into level Ⅱ emergency response immediately. Meteorological departments of Guangdong, Fujian, Guangxi and Hainan should also enter into emergency response state according to relevant responsive level. Other provinces which may be affected should make preparation.

Central Meteorological Office issued orange warning for typhoon at 6:00 a.m. today: Severe tropical storm "Kai-tak" has intensified into typhoon. at 5:00 am. It was centered about 870 km southeast of Zhanjiang, Guangdong province (18.7°N, 118.2°E) with maximum wind force up to scale 12 (33m/s). It is forecasted to move west by north at speed of 20-25 km per hour to approach to the coastal areas between Zhuhai to Xuwen with gaining intensity. It is likely to land in these areas from tomorrow morning.
