Cafeteria blast injures 13 in NE China

A blast ripped through a cafeteria Wednesday morning, injuring 13 people -- two of them critically -- in northeast China's Heilongjiang province, local authorities said.

The explosion occurred at 6:50 a.m. at a cafeteria in Phoenix Town community of Shuangcheng city, said an official with the city government.

So far, 13 people have been confirmed injured. Two of them were in critical condition and transferred to a hospital in the provincial capital Harbin, said the official.

Altogether 39 people went to an emergency medical center for health checks.

It is not yet known what caused the blast and further investigation is underway.
