The 12th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will start later on its second day to accommodate students taking the gaokao (college entrance exam), meeting officials announced yesterday.

The high level meeting, which will be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, runs from June 6-7 in Beijing.

June 7 is the first day of the gaokao, when over 70,000 Beijing students will take the exam.

The SCO meeting has delayed proceedings on its second day from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., which means related traffic controls will begin after the gaokao is underway.
