China, ROK envoys meet on Korean Peninsula issues

Envoys of China and the Republic of Korea (ROK) met in Beijing Thursday to discuss issues related to the six-party talks, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman confirmed Friday.

Wu Daiwei, China's Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Affairs, met with Lim Sung-nam, the ROK's top envoy to the six-party talks, on Thursday in Beijing, Spokesman Liu Weimin said at a press briefing.

When asked to comment on the meeting, Liu said China is willing to make joint efforts with relevant parties to maintain the peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and northeast Asia.

China will continue to work with relevant parties to promote the six-party talks, he said.
