Heavy rains swept across south China on Friday, grounding more than 100 flights at the Baiyun Airport of Guangzhou in Guangdong province.

According to the airport, a thunderstorm that started around 10:40 a. m. at the airport led to the delay of 180 inbound and departing flights. Most of the flights were resumed by the evening when the weather improved.

Airport authorities warned that thunderstorms would linger in Guangzhou in the coming days, and travelers should pay close attention to weather and flight information.
