Green energy for homes

2012-02-27 09:43 Global Times     Web Editor: Zang Kejia comment

Residential property developers will be under a legal obligation to install hot water systems that utilize renewable energy for their new developments in the city, the Beijing Evening News reported yesterday.

The mandatory energy sources include residual heat from industrial facilities and solar power, according to the new household heating regulations formulated by the city's housing authority. The new rules come into effect on March 1.

Solar energy is also recommended for existing properties. A building may undergo the switch to solar power if two-thirds of its home owners approve.
