On the morning of January 27, 2012, the reporter came to the submarine pier of a submarine flotilla of the North China Sea Fleet under the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).

The officers and men of the submarine flotilla, a key troop unit that undertakes combat readiness duties throughout the year, still carried out the combat readiness training against time even during the Spring Festival period.

On a new-type submarine, the reporter saw that Xi Jiajun, political commissar of the submarine, was organizing his officers and men to carry out practical training including diving and coming up.

In the shore training room of the submarine flotilla, Zhai Songhai, captain of the submarine, was efficiently issuing the order of carrying out the 5th simulated attack. On the screen, two torpedoes were fanning out to directly hit the "enemy warship". Zhai Songhai told the reporter that the training room of the submarine flotilla is fully operational with advanced equipment for highly simulated training.

During the Spring Festival period, a number of submarines undertook emergency duties, and some submarines were fully loaded with such materials as torpedoes, fuel and water on standby to act upon orders. The officers and men conducted overall tests on the mechanized equipment of the submarine every day, repeatedly analyzed and studied the "enemy's situation", their own situation and the sea condition, and deduced the "battle plan" over and over again.
