Beijing becomes largest technology trading center in China

The volume of technology transactions in Beijing reached 189 billion yuan last year, up nearly 300 percent from the beginning of the 11th Five-Year Plan period. The volume accounted for 40 percent of China's total volume, making Beijing the largest technology trading center in China.

Beijing's strategic emerging industries enjoyed rapid development last year. And the turnover of the technological transactions hit 148.3 billion yuan, accounting for nearly 79 percent of the city's total technology trade volume.

High-tech enterprises in the Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park, an incubator for technological transactions in Beijing, had more than 132 billion yuan technological business last year, accounting for more than 70 percent of the city's total volume.

Beijing is gradually evolving into an international technology trading center. The city exported nearly 75.9 billion yuan worth of technologies to 78 countries such as the United States and Finland in 2011 alone, accounting for 40 percent of its total technology trade volume last year.
