(Ecns.cn)--Some unusual annual bonuses have sparked heated discussion online, with coffins and burial grounds topping the list of the weirdest, reported the Yangtze Evening Post on December 31.

A web user revealed that his company had prepared two annual bonuses: coffins and 42" LCD TV sets, and that his boss had drawn up the plan for the coffins. Employees who were granted coffins but did not need them could donate the special "bonuses" to others.

"Take a look at our annual bonuses: two cases of apples, a shopping card and two burial grounds," posted another netizen.

Not long ago, automaker Volkswagen also became the target of envy as news spread online of the company's plans to give out year-end bonuses equaling 27 months of salaries, according to the Guangzhou Daily on December 22.

The report added that the company had confirmed the news but said it was not that much since the bonus was based on the basic salary, which is 3,000 yuan ($466) per month. Basic salary accounts for one-third of the total payroll for the company.

Furthermore, Yu Jinyong, board director at Generation Investment Group, claimed on his weibo (the Chinese equivalent of Twitter) that employees at his company would enjoy a 30-day paid holiday starting from January 1, 2012.

Many online users doubted the truth of the post, but Yu's profile on Sina Weibo shows that he is a verified micro-blogger.
